The food we redistribute reaches frontline charities and community groups across Hong Kong, including senior centres, crisis shelters, central kitchens, after school clubs, food banks, and other non-profit programmes. Last year, we provided enough food to support over 2 million meals for vulnerable people.

1st Step Association is a small charity based in Kowloon Bay with about 800 members providing extensive rehabilitation and aftercare services to people with serious physical disabilities, especially those caused by spinal cord injury. They help people injured on duty, or in other accidents, to obtain reasonable compensation and provide professional information such as medical knowledge, legal support and social services so as to help them and their families adjust to traumatic change. They also aim to educate the general public about occupational safety. They became a FHK Charity Partner in 2018.

Action Care are based in Sai Wan Ho and support their community in the Eastern District of Hong Kong with a wide range of services largely through their outreach program and Grace House. Their outreach programme helps by distributing food lunchboxes to the homeless, new immigrants, single parents and others in need. Grace House is both a service station where food supplies, organic vegetables and donations are gathered for daily distribution, as well as being a place for people to meet, hold lunch gatherings for the elderly, run tutorial classes and even offer free haircuts. Their mission is to serve those in need through acts of love and mercy regardless of race, nationality, religion, age or circumstance. FHK has been supporting their food bank services since 2012.

Ark Association

The Ark Association is a Christian organisation which runs the Fishermen & Migrant Workers Food Sharing Programme in Aberdeen. Their programme provides family support and senior services to fishermen and their families, migrant workers from China, and seniors in the Southern district of Hong Kong. They offer food parcels, snacks, and refreshments as well as holding English classes for children. Their mission is to lead more people to know God through sharing, services and training. They are based in Aberdeen and have been a FHK Charity Partner since 2014.

Asian Baptist Women’s Fellowship, HK

The Asian Baptist Women’s Fellowship established the Care and Share Shelter in Wan Chai to provide a safe place for women in crisis, specifically underprivileged women from Ethnic Minorities. It offers them emotional support, encouragement and basic labour rights advice as well practical skills to help them fully integrate, and participate in Hong Kong society. The women are given hot meals, snacks and refreshments as well as classes in a variety of practical subjects such as cooking, baking and tailoring with the hope that they will learn a skill that can help generate income. They have been a FHK Charity partner since 2017.

The Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service established their Hot Meal Programme in 2009 to provide low cost meals for impoverished children, low-income families, working poor and single parents during lunch and dinner time. There are currently six Hotmeal Canteens in service: three Lunch Club Hotmeal Canteens for adults and three Kiddy Heart Canteens for primary school students and their immediate families. They also offer career counselling and employment referral, emotional counselling, parent-child activities, and peer support groups. The Canteens are in Tsuen Wan, Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei and Wan Chai. FHK has been working with the Charity since 2019.

The Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service has been running the Integrated Employment Assistance Programme for Self-Reliance (IEAPS) since 2008. The programme aims to assist able-bodied CSSA applicants living in the Yau Tsim Mong district to overcome work barriers and enhance their employability. By providing a range of one-stop integrated employment assistance services on a family basis, they hope to help people in the community find paid employment as soon as possible. They also have a food donation service and have been a Charity Partner of FHK since 2017.

Branches of Hope Limited is a charity based in Wan Chai serving refugees with a mission to restore dignity, justice and hope to the vulnerable and marginalised in Hong Kong. The charity offers relief in the form of financial assistance, education, healthcare services, counselling and legal referrals. It runs summer school programmes and distributes meals and refreshments to children and their parents. The Caritas Community Centre in Aberdeen provides integrated services for underprivileged and vulnerable people mainly in Hong Kong’s southern district. Changing Young Lives Foundation is dedicated to rewriting the life stories of thousands of underprivileged children and marginalised youth in Hong Kong and the Mainland every year by providing them with free centre-based and outreach programs in education, talent development and self-empowerment. Their spacious Shek Kip Mei Learning Centre provides a home away from home for many children, and gives them the opportunity to learn English, computer skills, and arts and crafts and well as the use of a gym, dance studio and home economics room. Christian Action’s mission is to serve disadvantaged, marginalized, displaced or abandoned individuals, giving them hope, dignity and self-reliance. The Migrant Domestic Workers Programme runs two shelters in To Kwa Wan, helping mainly Filipino and Indonesian workers, educating them of their basic rights and the different kinds of labour protection available to them. Their service centres also provide emergency assistance and shelter as well as psychological counselling and support. They have been a FHK Charity Partner since 2012.

Christian Action’s mission is to serve those who are disadvantaged, marginalised, displaced or abandoned individuals, giving them hope, dignity and self-reliance. In 2003, they opened Hong Kong’s first service centre to provide immediate assistance to refugees and asylum seekers. The Chunking Mansions Centre assists refugees with essential humanitarian needs such as food, clothing and shelter and is also an important source of educational, recreational and psycho social support. They have been a FHK Charity Partner since 2012.

Christian Action’s mission is to serve those who are disadvantaged, marginalised, displaced or abandoned individuals, giving them hope, dignity and self-reliance. Their Integrated Service For New Arrivals runs two service centres in Mong Kok and Sheung Shui, offering food programmes, new arrivals induction classes, women’s groups, consultation and counselling, after-school child care and classes, as well as recreational, community and volunteer activities. With their help, new arrivals and students are better equipped to overcome the barriers in their livers and integrate into society. They have been a FHK Charity Partner since 2012.

The Christian Church of Divine Providence in Kwun Tong, runs a Food Bank Service to help feed the elderly at nearby public housing estates in the Kwun Tong district. They are supported by church resources and the St. James People’s Food Bank. They also offer comprehensive services to help the community such as women’s groups, a Self-Study Centre, counselling, and general community services. Their vision is to bring the community together to help one another and build a brighter future. FHK have been partnering with them since 2012.

Christian Concern for the Homeless Association

The Christian Concern for the Homeless Association aims to ensure that the basic needs of the homeless are fulfilled and rebuild their self-esteem, social networks and family relationships. They provide a very low-cost lunch for the service-users in the centre and dinner for people living in their transit hostel. The purpose of the charge is to subsidise the food expense and educate the homeless. They have been a FHK Charity Partner since 2012.

CNEC Lau Wing Sang Secondary School, located in Chai Wan, is a government subvented school, with over one-third of students coming from deprived and underprivileged families, many qualifying for the government textbook assistance scheme. The school’s mission is to promote their student’s spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, and social growth on the basis of all-round Christian education. The Crossroads Foundation, located in Tuen Mun, is a non-profit organisation which connects those with resources and those who need help. In Hong Kong, they actively support the Social Welfare Department and a wide range of NGOs in providing help to individuals and families living in vulnerable circumstances. Helping Hand is a charity that runs on the belief that senior citizens should be entitled to enjoy a rich and dignified life after years of contribution to society. Their objective is to meet the emerging housing, caring and other needs of our senior citizens as effectively as possible. At the Siu Sai Wan Jockey Club Housing for the Elderly they provide residential care services for elderly residents who are able to take care of themselves with minimum assistance. Two to four residents share a flat with cooking and bathing facilities. Each resident has a private area, bed, cabinet and wardrobe. The charity also supports seniors who are living in the community. They have been a FHK Charity Partner since 2014.

Dawn Island Gospel Drug Addiction Treatment Centre provides boarding and faith-driven treatment and rehabilitation services to male drug abusers of all ages and ethnicities for nine months out of a one-year treatment period. In July 2006, a South-Asian Ethnic Zone was officially set up on the Island, offering addiction treatment to South-Asian male students. With this, there are now three student groups on the island: the Adult Group (aged 23 and above), the Youth Group (aged 22 and below), and the South-Asian Ethnic Group (for non-Chinese). Pok Oi Hospital – Jockey Club Hostel for Single Persons is a charity providing transitional housing for single males. The Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers runs various centres, projects and services, which provide internationally renowned voluntary drug treatment and rehabilitation services to all drug abusers. The Methadone Treatment Counselling Programme offers a wide range of services, including counselling, group training and activities, and family support services to newly-registered drug abusers including those under 21 yeares of age, as well as other voluntary applicants and referred cases.
