Food Sourcing Manager

As our Food Sourcing Manager, you will play a crucial role in cultivating, developing, managing and strengthening Feeding Hong Kong’s (FHK) relationships with food companies. Your primary responsibilities will be to reduce food waste and deliver food security by generating value-added food industry partnerships and securing sufficient, sustainable volumes of quality product to support FHK’s charity network. You will contribute to the food sourcing strategy and assist the Food Sourcing Director in its successful implementation. Additionally, you will work closely with internal and external parties to identify and overcome barriers to redistributing surplus product.

Key responsibilities

Network Development

  • Research, investigate and approach potential food donors, including producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors;
  • Prepare and proactively present the benefits of surplus product donation to potential partners;
  • Develop relationships and engage with relevant departments and key personnel to establish new food donation initiatives, and drive their success;
  • Represent Feeding Hong Kong at industry events and networking opportunities to expand the organisation’s food sourcing network.

Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for food donors, and be responsible for managing surplus food offers;
  • Identify surplus patterns and work with partners to develop systems and processes to manage surplus food in the most environmentally, socially and financially efficient way;
  • Work across different functions, such as logistics, supply chain, operations and sustainability, to deepen food donor partnerships and maximise impact.

Project Management and Team Collaboration

  • Manage and support key food sourcing programmes and projects to ensure a consistent supply of quality donated food;
  • Collaborate with FHK’s operations and charities teams to optimise food collection, storage, inventory management, and distribution processes.

Food Safety 

  • Support the development and implementation of food safety policies and procedures, including quality control measures for all sourced food;
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and best practices.

Experience, skills and knowledge

General

  • Native Cantonese with business English (fluency in both written and spoken);
  • Work experience in the food retail, wholesale or manufacturing sector;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Professional and acts with integrity.

Experience of:

  • Proven success in relationship management with portfolio in the FMCG, food, retail or comparable sectors;
  • Coordinating work-flow between departments and outside parties;
  • Managing, negotiating and influencing expectations with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes;
  • Refining business processes and systems to improve efficiency within and between organisations.

Able to:

  • Establish strong working relationships with Feeding Hong Kong stakeholders;
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent presentation skills;
  • Motivate, manage and organise peers and teammates;
  • Work independently and with diverse groups of people and cultures;
  • Take initiative, be proactive and solve problems;
  • Promote the mission of Feeding Hong Kong to reduce food waste and deliver food security.

Knowledge of:

  • Sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and experience of its application within the business environment is an advantage;
  • Food safety knowledge and expertise is an advantage;
  • Strong computer skills e.g. Microsoft Office.

Partnerships and Development Manager

As our Partnerships and Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in identifying, cultivating, and managing strategic partnerships to support the growth and sustainability of Feeding Hong Kong’s operations. Your primary responsibilities will be to secure funding through grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations. Additionally, you will develop collaborative arrangements with other organizations to expand the reach and impact of Feeding Hong Kong’s food rescue and distribution efforts.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising and partnership strategy to diversify and grow Feeding Hong Kong’s revenue streams;
  • Prospect for and secure new funding sources, including grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations;
  • Build and manage relationships with existing and potential donors, sponsors, and partner organisations;
  • Oversee the grant application process, including researching opportunities, preparing proposals, and managing reporting requirements;
  • Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling fundraising and partnership collateral;
  • Represent Feeding Hong Kong at relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities;
  • Monitor and analyse fundraising and partnership performance, and provide regular updates to the leadership team;
  • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities that align with Feeding Hong Kong’s mission and strategic objectives;
  • Ensure effective stewardship of donor and partner relationships.

Experience, skills and knowledge

General:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, marketing, communications, or non-profit management);
  • Demonstrated track record of securing grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously;
  • Passion for Feeding Hong Kong’s mission and a commitment to reducing food waste and delivering food security.

Experience of: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising, partnership development, or business development, preferably in the non-profit or social impact sector.

Able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using fundraising and customer relationship management (CRM) software;
  • Exhibit creativity and strategic thinking to identify new partnership and funding opportunities;
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams;
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Speak and write fluent English and Cantonese.

Knowledge of:

  • The non-profit landscape and funding ecosystem in Hong Kong;
  • Strong computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Excel.

Part Time Accounting Assistant

As the Part-Time Accounting Assistant, your primary responsibilities will be to support the day-to-day accounting operations of Feeding Hong Kong’s financial resources. This will involve ensuring timely and accurate record keeping and reporting to maintain the organization’s financial transparency and compliance.

  • Processing accounts receivable and payable;
  • Checking incoming and outgoing payments for accuracy;
  • Dealing with incoming invoices;
  • Reconciling accounting data to ensure accuracy;
  • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets;
  • Performing basic office tasks like filing, data entry, and mail processing.

Experience, skills and knowledge

General:

  • Basic accounting knowledge;
  • Strong computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Excel.

Experience of:

  • Payable and receivable and general ledger.

Able to:

  • Work unsupervised and organise a demanding workload;
  • Juggle multiple priorities and to deliver under pressure;
  • Work accurately, paying close attention to detail;
  • Speak and write fluent English and Cantonese.

Knowledge of:

  • Financial statements, general ledger functions, accounting software user and administration skills.

Working hours:

  • 1-2 days a week, flexible working days;
  • 09:00 – 18:00 – one hour unpaid lunch break;
  • HK$85 per hour.

Community Engagement Support Intern

Support our Community Engagement team to ensure the smooth running of our volunteer and education activities

Duties

  • Provide support for the food drives, school events, volunteers activities and other community campagins;
  • Lead volunteer briefings and tours;
  • Translate a variety of materials e.g. newsletters, promotion materials and manuals etc;
  • Manage incoming calls and ensure phone messages are relayed to appropriate staff member;
  • Answer the door and greet all visitors and volunteers to the Feeding Hong Kong office;
  • Maintain and enter information into databases;
  • Support with other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Confident communicator in Chinese and English;
  • Passionate ambassador for environmental and social issues
    Strong multi-tasker;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Experience using design software desirable.

Working day

Ideally 1-2 full days a week during term time but can be flexible to fit in with university studies or

Food Sourcing Intern

Support our Food Sourcing team to develop and expand our food donor network

  • Provide admin support to the Food Sourcing Team;
  • Approach new food donors and prepare pitching materials;
  • Assist in food donation reports and analysis;
  • Provide support in food industry research;
  • Support retail surplus collections;
  • Assist in food exhibitions or events if necessary;
  • Support with other ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements

  • Open to undergraduate student who is passionate about environmental and social issues;
  • Pay close attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • Interact with a range of different people, confidently and pleasantly.
  • Work independently with little supervision;
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.

Working day
