Fundraising and Communications Manager

We are seeking a Fundraising and Communications Manager who is passionate about our mission in saving and redistributing surplus food to join our team and help manage and deliver the sustainable fundraising strategy and raise the profile of Feeding Hong Kong through effective communications activities.

Job purpose

  • To increase all areas of income to fund the work of Feeding Hong Kong (FHK)
  • To manage and deliver the sustainable fundraising strategy
  • To raise the profile of FHK through effective communications activities
  • Be the face of FHK, ensure effective and continuing relationships with donors, charities, volunteers and community partners

Key responsibilities

Fundraising

  • Manage and grow the full range of fundraising experience including trusts and foundations, individuals, community and corporate giving
  • Research, identify and make applications to corporates, trusts and foundations
  • Produce timely and accurate tailored reports to funders
  • Monitor and review the income of the organisation against the budget and report to the Finance Manager on a monthly basis
  • Work in partnership with external organisations, businesses, agencies and government departments to identify and develop growth opportunities

Communications

  • Develop and deliver the communications strategy and action plan to raise the profile of FHK
  • Manage, maintain and develop all communications channels including the website, newsletters and social media
  • Regularly produce effective content for communications channels
  • Develop key messages, lead on creating and maintaining appropriate and consistent language and terminology across all media
  • Lead on copy-writing and editing and production of marketing materials (translation skills a plus)
  • Manage all aspects of publicity including producing press releases, responding to press enquiries, attending events and building relationships with media representatives
  • Report on and analyse all aspects of communications

Other

  • Manage and monitor the annual fundraising and communications budget
  • Assist with other admin and support tasks as requested

Accountabilities

  • Be accountable and report to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Work with volunteers and interns when needed

Requirements

General

  • Fluent written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English
  • Communicate effectively in a range of forms and demonstrate excellent presentation skills
  • Good numerical and critical thinking skills
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience
  • To be committed to the mission of FHK to reduce food waste, feed charities and drive change

Experience of

  • Fundraising and building relationships with donors
  • Delivering effective communications activities including social media and/or campaigns

Able to

  • Establish strong working relationships with Feeding Hong Kong stakeholders
  • Write persuasively and for different audiences
  • Work independently and with diverse groups of people
  • Drive, influence and negotiate to achieve the desired outcome
  • Display high level of initiative, problem solving and decision-making
  • Work flexibly including evenings and weekends
  • Work unsupervised and organise a demanding workload
  • Juggle multiple priorities and to deliver under pressure
  • Work accurately, paying close attention to detail
  • Effectively analyse and communicate key data to senior management, the board of directors and other partners

Knowledge of

  • Strong computer skills e.g. Microsoft Office
  • Digital competency including online marketing tools
  • Basic video editing and design skills

  • Assist with admin and programme support for the Bread Run, student ‘Meet & Greets’ and Santa Sack campaign
  • Lead weekly volunteer briefings and tours
  • Provide support at Feeding HK events

Requirements

  • Confident communicator in Chinese and English
  • Passionate ambassador for environmental and social issues

Logistics and Operations Intern

Support our Operations team to ensure the smooth flow of product donations from the food industry to our charity network

  • Support our Operations team to ensure the smooth flow of product donations from the food industry to our charity network
  • Assist with food donation sorting, inspection and data capture
  • Prepare donation reports and analysis
  • Assist with inventory cycle counting and reconciliation
  • Provide admin support to the Feeding HK charity network
  • Support with other ad-hoc projects and analysis as required

Requirements

  • Fluent in Chinese and English
  • Be passionate about the mission of Feeding HK
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience using data systems desirable
  • Willing and able to do light lifting and other physical work to support warehouse and delivery operations

Working day

Ideally 1-2 full days a week but can be flexible to fit in with university studies

Accounting Intern

Support our Finance Manager with the day-to-day finance operations

  • Coding and data input into accounting software of invoices and expenses
  • Maintain filing of financial documents
  • Assist with month end close eg reconciliations, reporting, journal entries
  • Support with other ad-hoc tasks as required

Requirements

  • Studying towards a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience in using accounting software and Salesforce is desirable
  • Previous accounting experience is desirable
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Interest in working in a NFP organisation
  • Work accurately, paying close attention to detail
  • Take ownership and work unsupervised
