Chief Executive Officer

Key responsibilities

  • Taking executive responsibility for all functions including the warehouse, administration, finance, fundraising, marketing, communications and IT;
  • Liaising with the Board in relation to the development of the organisation’s strategic vision, development and delivery of the agreed business, financial and operational plans;
  • Providing leadership, developing and implementing the organizations’ strategic and operational plans and leading on partnership and business development;
  • Ensuring financial control and supporting and advising on good governance across all aspects of the organisation (financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, control, reporting and management of finances and resources, ensuring regulatory compliance and sustainable organisational growth);
  • Identifying, developing and nurturing beneficial partnerships with donors, community partners, charities and all relevant authorities/organisations;
  • Recruitment, management and effective deployment of staff, apply robust HR processes covering recruitment, performance management, appraisal and remuneration;
  • Leading by example, instilling a culture of professionalism and inclusion, supported by coaching, training and development.

Requirements

  • Fluency in English is essential with Cantonese language skills being a distinct advantage to engage with local staff and charities
  • Significant proven record of achievement in a management position, ideally within an NGO with an operational component or directly food sector;
  • Experience of effective partnership working and development and external relationship management. Fundraising experience is a significant advantage;
  • Inspirational leadership, change management and motivational skills;
  • Highly organised and personally effective;

    Operations Assistant

     To assist with the day to day operation of the Feeding HK food bank to ensure the effective flow of food donations from food companies to local charities, also to support warehouse and fleet logistics and ensure all food is safely and professionally handled.

    Key responsibilities

    • Responsible for sorting, storing and recording the surplus food that gets donated to Feeding Hong Kong (FHK)
    • Assemble the deliveries of food for charities and community groups;
    • To be the face of FHK, being a regular point of contact with our donors, as well as our growing charity base collecting food from warehouse;
    • Act as a host for volunteers who may join as warehouse assistants;
    • To keep the warehouse and packing areas clean and tidy;
    • Consistently follow the health & safety and food safety standards protocols to ensure safe collection and delivery of the surplus;
    • If required to drive the FHK vehicle- collect surplus food from the donors as well as deliver surplus to the charity partners.

    Requirements

    General

    • Written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese)- fluent and English- basic;
    • To be fully committed to the mission of FHK to reduce food waste, feed charities and drive change;
    • Commitment to undertake in house training in food safety and health & safety practices;
    • Personable with a good sense of humour and excellent communication skills;
    • Valid driver’s license (Full Driving License no. 1 and 2) (if applicable);
    • Safe and courteous driver (if applicable).

    Experience of:

    • Working in a warehouse and/or logistics environment;
    • Working on own initiative, able to manage own workload and prioritise tasks to meet objectives;
    • Working in a team with evidence of demonstrating a flexible approach to team working.

    Able to:

    • Establish strong working relationships with Feeding Hong Kong stakeholders;
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Work independently and with diverse groups of people;
    • Enthuse and motivate individuals and groups;

    Knowledge of:

    • Basic computer skills e.g. Microsoft Office- a plus;

    Office and Programme Support Intern

    Join our Programme and Office team to ensure the smooth running of our daily Foodbank operations

    • Work alongside our Office team to ensure the smooth running of our daily operations
    • Provide support for the Food Drives, School events and Food Sorting and Packing Sessions
    • Lead weekly volunteer briefings and tours
    • Translate a variety of materials e.g. newsletters, promotion materials and manuals etc
    • Provide support at Feeding HK events
    • Maintain and enter information into databases
    • Support with other ad-hoc tasks as required

    Requirements

    • Confident communicator in Chinese and English
    • Passionate ambassador for environmental and social issues
    • Strong multi-tasker
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • Experience using design software desirable

    Ideally 1-2 full days a week during term time but can be flexible to fit in with university studies or

    Logistics and Supply Chain Intern

    Support our Operations team to ensure the smooth flow of product donations from the food industry to our charity network

    • Support our Operations team to ensure the smooth flow of product donations from the food industry to our charity network
    • Assist with food donation sorting, inspection and data capture
    • Prepare donation reports and analysis
    • Assist with inventory cycle counting and reconciliation
    • Provide admin support to the Food Sourcing Team
    • Support with other ad-hoc projects and analysis as required

    Requirements

    • Fluent in Chinese and English
    • Be passionate about the mission of Feeding HK
    • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
    • Experience using data systems desirable
    • Willing and able to do light lifting and other physical work to support warehouse and delivery operations

    Accounting Intern

    Support our Finance Manager with the day-to-day finance operations

    • Coding and data input into accounting software of invoices and expenses
    • Maintain filing of financial documents
    • Assist with month end close eg reconciliations, reporting, journal entries
    • Support with other ad-hoc tasks as required

    Requirements

    • Studying towards a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business management or related field
    • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
    • Experience in using accounting software and Salesforce is desirable
    • Previous accounting experience is desirable
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good command of spoken and written English
    • Interest in working in a NFP organisation

    Marketing Intern

    Support the Fundraising & Communications Manager with marketing activities including developing marketing materials, researching client data, social media outreach, and perform administrative work

    Research Project

    • Report on public campaigns by organisations tackling food waste

    Support with Content Curation

    Administrative work

    • Translate a variety of materials e.g. newsletters, promotion and materials etc
    • Manage incoming calls and ensure phone messages are relayed to appropriate staff member
    • Answer the door and greet all visitors and volunteers to the Feeding Hong Kong office
    • Maintain and enter information into databases

    Support with other ad-hoc tasks as required.

    Requirements

    • Currently studying for or have diploma in BS/BA related to marketing, journalism, communication, media studies, graphic design or related field
    • Experience of supporting the delivery of projects to tight deadlines and budgets
    • Working in a team environment
    • Work unsupervised and organise a demanding workload
    • Juggle multiple priorities and to deliver under pressure
    • Work accurately, paying close attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
    • Interact with a range of different people, confidently and pleasantly
    • Basic video editing software
