Charities Officer

We are now seeking a right candidate who is passionate in charity sector to support the Charities Team development and reporting directly to the Charities Director, key roles are:

  • To support the timely offer and allocation of surplus food donations to Feeding Hong Kong’s charity networks;
  • To support the Charities Team in managing and communicating with these networks;
  • To improve communication within the organization for better operations;
  • To raise awareness and support for Feeding Hong Kong’s mission in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Offer daily support and monitor the efficient redistribution of surplus food within our network;

  • Maintain, prepare, and update records for all charity-related matters;
  • Assist with the Annual Charity Review and results analysis;
  • Assist to develop processes to streamline and enhance the distribution of food donations to charities across Hong Kong;
  • Ad-hoc tasks or projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 1 to 2 year working experience in charity or non-profit sector preferable; or relationship management / customer service / social welfare;
  • Individuals with commercial background who has a strong passion for charity sector are encouraged to apply;
  • Interest in food rescue and food assistance programs while balancing the expectations and KPIs of various stakeholders.

Able to :

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment;
  • Capable of thinking creatively and beyond traditional approaches;
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with strong presentation skills;
  • Ability to set priorities while paying close attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Strong character and positive attitude with strong negotiation, influencing, and persuasion skills

Knowledge of:

  • Understanding of issues related to food waste and food insecurity is a plus;
  • Fluency in both written and spoken Cantonese and English.

        Community Engagement Support Intern

        Support our Community Engagement team to ensure the smooth running of our volunteer and education activities

        Duties

        • Provide support for the food drives, school events, volunteers activities and other community campagins;
        • Lead volunteer briefings and tours;
        • Translate a variety of materials e.g. newsletters, promotion materials and manuals etc;
        • Manage incoming calls and ensure phone messages are relayed to appropriate staff member;
        • Answer the door and greet all visitors and volunteers to the Feeding Hong Kong office;
        • Maintain and enter information into databases;
        • Support with other ad-hoc tasks as required.

        Requirements

        • Confident communicator in Chinese and English;
        • Passionate ambassador for environmental and social issues
          Strong multi-tasker;
        • Proficiency in MS Office;
        • Experience using design software desirable.

        Working day

        Ideally 1-2 full days a week during term time but can be flexible to fit in with university studies or

        2-month full time during summer / 1-month full time during winter break.

        Food Sourcing Intern

        Support our Food Sourcing team to develop and expand our food donor network

        Duties

        • Provide admin support to the Food Sourcing Team;
        • Approach new food donors and prepare pitching materials;
        • Assist in food donation reports and analysis;
        • Provide support in food industry research;
        • Support retail surplus collections;
        • Assist in food exhibitions or events if necessary;
        • Support with other ad-hoc projects as required.

        Requirements

        • Open to undergraduate student who is passionate about environmental and social issues;
        • Pay close attention to detail and accuracy;
        • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills;
        • Interact with a range of different people, confidently and pleasantly.
        • Work independently with little supervision;
        • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.

        Working day

        • Ideally 2-3 full days a week during term time but can be flexible to fit in with university studies or
        • 2-month full time during summer / 1-month full time during winter break

        All internships are voluntary and unpaid positions.
