This World Food Day, we were thrilled to see people using their talents and creativity to help us spread the message of “Food. Wanted, Not Wasted”! Our food donor partners donated close to 6 tonnes of food which will be able to provide over 14,240 meals to the community, all thanks to your support.
Food prices remain high and it is getting hard for underprivileged families and individuals to afford nutritious food. Key staples like rice, cooking oil, and noodles are always in high demand. Supported by our community partners, Feeding Hong Kong was happy to deliver food donations to the Hong Fook Church Bradbury Community Health Development Centre in October.
Ms. Wu, who has been receiving food from the center for the past three years, shared her story, “My husband had a stroke three years ago and lost the ability to work and support the family. Food assistance supported our daily expenses and we were able to use the money we saved for my husband’s physiotherapy. These food donation truly mean a lot to our family.”
We are grateful for the 17 companies who joined our World Food Day Corporate Food Drive. Thanks to Deliveroo, the three companies who donated the most food were awarded free food delivery for up to three months. Congratulations!
In other exciting news, our three judges picked three winners for our No Food Wasted Cooking Challenge for their zero-waste recipes, creativity and popularity. Check out the three winning entries below and do not hesitate to share them on social media!
